Why am I a Visiting Rabbit?
This morning I did not wake up in a battery cage.
Or forgotten, alone and starving, in an unclean outdoor hutch.
Or in a laboratory, in pain, waiting to die. Abandoned. Or even in a cage.
Today I am not anybody’s food or fur. I am not prey. I need not be afraid.
Today I choose to connect with humans. I choose to comfort them.
I push fear and anger aside, and I try to understand.
(Some of those humans are forgotten or are in “cages,” too.)
I show people what a happy, healthy rabbit can be.
I share my curiosity, my affection, my spirit and my life.
I am instant happiness. I make smiles. I brighten hours, days, lives.
Once a human meets me, touches me, makes eye contact with me….it’s hard to forget me.
And then harder to forget rabbits anywhere...and rabbits everywhere.
I find the humans who do not understand. I open doors (and cages) everywhere I go.
I am only one small bunny, but I can make a difference in this world.
I make the world better for rabbits by making it happier for humans.
One visit, one bunny, one person at a time.
